The Nazar: Turkey’s Evil Eye Charm
Across Turkey, you’ll notice blue glass charms known as the nazar boncuğu, often called the evil eye. They’re believed to protect against bad luck or jealousy, and appear everywhere, hanging in homes, on jewellery, in taxis and shop windows. Whether taken as tradition or symbolism, the nazar remains one of the country’s most recognisable cultural icons.
