Sunset in the Sahara
The drive south from Tafraout takes the better part of a day. Infrastructure thins, the road straightens and the landscape strips back to nothing but rock and horizon. By the time the camels are waiting at the edge of Erg Chegaga, the largest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara, the isolation is complete. Mint Tea: Morocco's Welcome Ritual
Mint tea is more than just a drink in Morocco, it’s part of everyday hospitality. Whether you’re in a city riad, a market stall or a desert camp, chances are someone will offer you a glass. The tea is brewed strong with fresh mint and plenty of sugar, then poured from high above the glass to create a light foam on top, known as the “crown”. Accepting a glass is a small but important gesture.
