Sunset in the Sahara

The drive south from Tafraout takes the better part of a day. Infrastructure thins, the road straightens and the landscape strips back to nothing but rock and horizon. By the time the camels are waiting at the edge of Erg Chegaga, the largest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara, the isolation is complete. The trek into the dunes times with the light turning gold across the sand before camp appears at the base of the dunes and the sky overhead takes over..

Nothing prepares you for Uganda

Uganda was the trip that genuinely moved me in a way I didn't see coming. You spend an hour sitting quietly in the jungle while a family of mountain gorillas moves around you completely unbothered and there's a moment where a silverback gorilla makes eye contact and you forget to breathe. Then you're rafting grade five rapids on the Nile the next day and lions are sleeping in fig trees the day after that. It's the most underrated country in Africa and I'll argue that with anyone.
