Uganda

Uganda packs a surprising amount into one country. In the misty forests of Bwindi, trekkers move quietly through thick jungle to find mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Further east, the Nile surges through the rapids around Jinja, drawing whitewater rafters from around the world. Across the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park, lions lounge in fig trees while elephants roam the grasslands below. And in the southwest, Lake Bunyonyi’s calm waters offer a slower pace after days spent exploring. Between jungle treks, wildlife safaris and river adventures, Uganda is the kind of destination that feels wild in the best possible way.

Nothing prepares you for Uganda

Uganda was the trip that genuinely moved me in a way I didn't see coming. You spend an hour sitting quietly in the jungle while a family of mountain gorillas moves around you completely unbothered and there's a moment where a silverback gorilla makes eye contact and you forget to breathe. Then you're rafting grade five rapids on the Nile the next day and lions are sleeping in fig trees the day after that. It's the most underrated country in Africa and I'll argue that with anyone.
