There is a reason people keep coming back to Hakuba. The powder is the kind that ruins every other ski destination for you. That is just the truth. Whether you are a solo traveller chasing powder on your own schedule, a duo looking to split a room, or a crew ready to make it a proper group week, there is accommodation in Hakuba that fits and a ski week waiting to be built around you. Our value properties are clean, comfortable and positioned exactly where you need to be: close to the village, the shuttle stops and the ramen spot you will end up at three nights in a row because it’s that good. Your Hakuba Valley Pass opens the door to all 10 resorts across the valley. Olympic pistes, serious tree runs, quieter terrain and everything in between. Free shuttles run daily so following the best conditions is never a logistical problem. One morning you are carving groomers, the next you are somewhere completely different chasing fresh snow. After dark, Hakuba's village takes over. Izakayas where the skewers keep arriving. Onsens to reset after big mountain days. The kind of Japanese après scene that has everything to do with hot sake and good company. The number of nights, ski days and room configuration are entirely up to you. Build the week around your group and we will sort the rest. Get in touch for a custom quote.

Powder Days Across Hakuba Valley

This is what you came for. Hakuba's powder is the real thing: deep, dry and light in a way that changes what skiing actually feels like. With ten resorts across three valleys and free shuttles linking them all, no two days need to look the same. One morning you're carving groomed runs at Happo-One, the next you're chasing fresh snow through the trees at Cortina. Your pass gives you the freedom to follow the conditions wherever they go. This freedom is the whole point.

Blue Star Tsugaike

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get from Blue Star to the gondola. The place is literally across the road from the Tsugaike gondola, which means less time carrying gear and more time getting first tracks. This recently renovated hotel blends modern comfort with the laid-back feel of a classic Japanese ski lodge, offering spacious rooms that work equally well for solos, couples, or a group of mates. Downstairs, the Blue Star Café serves up hearty breakfasts, quality coffee and post-ski feeds, while the mountains provide the backdrop from almost every angle.  There’s a sauna and cold plunge to heal those battle wounds. With prime access to Tsugaike, one of Hakuba’s largest resorts – you've got a base that keeps the focus exactly where it should be: on the mountain.

Butter Inn

Butter Hotel isn’t your average ski base. It’s a small, personal hotel that sleeps a maximum of 35 guests, just 10 metres from the chairlift at Norikura. Built around the idea that the best ski trips are about more than just chasing powder, Butter brings together comfortable rooms, a buzzing après scene, an in-house Mexican restaurant and bar, ski rentals under one roof, and a community of like-minded travellers. Wake up, click into your skis, spend the day finding Japan’s famous deep snow, then come home to margaritas, tacos and stories from the mountain. It’s the kind of place where strangers become ski mates by the end of the first night.

Exploring Hakuba Village (Encouraged)

Off the mountain, Hakuba's village has everything you need and nothing that feels unnecessary. Convenience stores stocked better than most supermarkets. Ramen spots with six seats and a chef who's been making the same broth for twenty years. Izakayas where you point at things and they're always good. A few bars that get livelier than they look from the outside. Wander without a plan and something good will find you.

Onsen Sessions (Encouraged)

After back-to-back powder days your legs will tell you it's time. Hakuba has several onsens within easy reach, some rustic, some resort-style, all of them worth the visit. Slide into water hot enough to revive your body for the next day, stare at the steam rising into the cold mountain air. One of the non-negotiable parts of any Japan ski week. ARRIVAL will point you toward the right ones before you arrive.
