This is a trip for travellers who want something more than Bali. You’ll hike before dawn for sunrise over the tri-coloured volcanic crater lakes of Mount Kelimutu, then journey overland through Flores – walking through villages where traditions are older than the map, cooking over fire, and visiting rice fields shaped like spider webs. Then, board a sail boat for Komodo National Park: snorkel coral reefs, watch bats flood the sky at sunset, and come face-to-face with Komodo dragons in the wild. It’s volcanic, prehistoric, cultural, and completely real – this is Indonesia, unplugged.

Sunrise Over the Volcanic Lakes of Kelimutu
Start the day pre-dawn with a torchlight hike to Mount Kelimutu’s summit. At the top, you’ll look down on three crater lakes – each a different, shifting colour – glowing in the morning light. It’s one of Indonesia’s most otherworldly sights.
