Ten nights through four completely different versions of the same country. Rio first: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf at sunset and a morning in Vidigal favela doing yoga on a rooftop while the city spreads out below you. Then south along the Costa Verde to Paraty, a colonial town where the 18th century never fully left, with a stop at a Quilombo community for a shared lunch and a conversation about history that most Brazil itineraries skip entirely. A kayak through the Saco do Mamanguá, Brazil's only tropical fjord, with Caiçara locals who have been reading these waters their whole lives. Then Ilha Grande, a paradise island with no roads and no development. Then a flight to Foz do Iguaçu for Iguazu Falls from both sides, the Brazilian panorama first, then the Argentinian immersion. This is Brazil for people after true cultural depth, raw adventure and human connection in equal measure.

This is not a favela tour. The Bromélia Project is a community organisation using art, education and wellness to support Vidigal residents, and the morning you spend here is the most genuinely connected experience on the entire trip. The uphill walk into the neighbourhood is the first signal that you're somewhere real. The rooftop yoga session overlooking Rio is extraordinary not only because of the view, but because of the people doing it alongside you. Community breakfast after. Stories from locals who have lived here their whole lives. Then a guided walk through the laneways before heading back down to the city with a completely different understanding of it.
